WiFi Hotspots now available for check out
The Library has a limited number of WiFi hotspots available for check out to valid cardholders in good standing. These hotspots are intended to offer a temporary solution for patrons who want internet access at home or while traveling. They are not intended to be a long-term replacement or subsidization for home internet service.
Hotspots will be circulated as part of a self-contained kit and must be kept in a temperature-controlled environment (don’t leave them in a hot/cold car for an extended period of time). Patrons will be assessed a replacement fee for missing or damaged components.
To encourage equitable access to hotspots, a 24 hour waiting period will be required between checking in and checking out a device to the same patron. Hotspots must be returned at the circulation desk during open hours and not placed in the drop boxes located outside of the Library.
- Hotspots are available for checkout to patrons 18 years of age and older.
- Checkout length will be for 7 days with a 1 day grace period.
- Holds may be placed on hotspots, but they are not eligible for renewal.
- To encourage the prompt return of hotspots, overdue hotspots will be remotely deactivated within 24 hours of the due date.
Remember, WiFi hotspots may not work in all parts of Brown County.
