Take a Tour with the Friends: Go Geode Hunting!
Attention rock hounds! Join us for a creek walk and geode hunt led by a local rock expert.
Meet in Library’s lower parking lot to carpool to the site, about a 45 minute drive from Nashville. There will be maps for carpool drivers.
We will hunt for rocks, then take a break for a bring-your-own picnic lunch, and plan to return to the Library in the early afternoon (unless the group wants to stay longer.)
The creek will probably be low, but it all depends on recent rainfall, so come prepared! There is a rocky incline to get down to the creek, so keep that in mind if there are any mobility problems.
You should bring:
- Boots/water shoes/old shoes
- Bags to carry your loot
- Sun screen and bug spray
- Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty
- Hammer/chisel if you want to pound rocks
- Bring a packed lunch/drinks and/or water

The Friends of the Brown County Library (FOL) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that raises funds to benefit the growing needs of the Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the Brown County community. Funds raised through membership dues, book sales and donations directly support many of the library’s programs and activities.
The FOL is dedicated to promoting our Library as an essential institution of Brown County. Please consider joining or renewing your membership today.
