Firefly Award! Indiana Early Literacy
Missing Storytime? We are too! Though we can’t meet in person, here is a great opportunity to share some great picture books and discuss them with your kids!
The Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award is brought to you by the Indiana Center for the Book. Each year many books are nominated by professional librarians, teachers, and others in Indiana, then a special committee narrows the nominations to the best five books. Books chosen are great for reading aloud and promoting literacy for children ages 0-5.
We usually read these books aloud in Storytime each year then vote on which we like best, but due to the current health crisis, the Indiana Center for the Book is opening up remote voting for the Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award. Parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5 who live in Indiana are welcome to experience the five nominated titles through video or in person and then assist their children in voting on their favorite.

You can find each of the titles to read in person when the library reopens, and you can download a PDF of the book list to help you remember them. In the mean time please take the time to watch each video, then vote for which one you liked best before July 31st!
