SUMMER READING 2012

Sign up for Brown County Public Library’s FREE summer reading program begins on Tuesday, May 29.  Participants can sign up at the main library in Nashville, or at the branch at Cordry Sweetwater.  The program is for all ages, infant through adult.

How does it work?

  • Sign up and get your packet which includes a calendar of special Summer Reading Events, a Reading Card, a Bingo Card, a book mark, and a Punch Card to record nonperishable food donations.
  • For each hour you read you should place a sticker on your Reading Card.  When you have 7 stickers you get to choose a paperback book to keep.  You can fill up as many reading cards as you like, and get a book for each one. Filled reading cards go into a drawing for a special prize at the end of Summer Reading.
  • Each week we will be posting Bingo pictures in the library.  If the pictures are on your Bingo Card, cover them with a sticker.  When all of the spaces on the card are covered, turn it in for a scratch-off card.  The scratch-off dot will reveal what prize you have won.  One Bingo Card per person for the summer.
  • Bring in one nonperishable food item each week to get a punch on your Punch Card.  When all 7 spaces have been punched, the card goes into a drawing for a prize.  All food will be donated to local charities to help those in need.
  • Participants will have until July 31 to finish their Reading Cards and choose a book.
  • Watch the library events calendar on the web page for information about Special Events.
  • Any questions?  Call the library at 812-988-2850.
  • See you at the LIBRARY!

Neptune is our newest favorite friend!!!!

Neptune the Raccoon is the new mascot for the Brown County Public Library Summer Reading Program.  Neptune made his debut at the annual school visits with Miss Stori and Mrs. Sechler. With a voice suspiciously similar to our new library director’s, Neptune has quickly become a favorite at the library.  Say hi to him when you visit the library to sign up for Summer Reading 2012.
